IT'S SHOWTIME

Inked

It's that time of year again.  Time to review my work, tighten it up, be critical and open myself up to rejection.  Many local art associations will be collecting work in the next couple of months for juried competitions.  You have to have a thick skin and try to remember that it's pretty subjective but the fact of the matter is, we all want our work to be accepted.  Not just into these competitions but in the larger sense.  Here are some things I'll be submitting.  Fingers crossed.  Stay tuned.

LOOK TO THE EAST

It was a little over a year ago that I traveled with my husband Tom to meet my son Jake and my brother Robert in Tokyo.  Tom planned an amazing trip through Walk Japan that took us on a five day hike over the Nakasendo Way.  Nakasendo, literally "the road through the mountains," was challenging, snow covered and breathtaking.  We walked at a fairly slow pace, allowing for wonderful photography opportunities.  Right up at the top of my list of New Year's resolutions is to put some of the hundreds of photos taken into a beautiful pictorial book.  It's good to have goals.

Since we were outside most of the time, lighting was not an issue.  Most of these were hand held with ISO at 100.  I used a newly purchased Tamron 28-300mm lens, which I LOVED because of the flexibility.  It was wide enough and had enough zoom for every landscape.
