ANOTHER AULD LANG SYNE

With just a few hours left in 2012, I try to scan thousands of images to find my favorites.  But my images are like my children; spoiled? No...they all have their own merits and flaws and I love them all equally!  Among the portraits, landscapes, weddings and action shots, I have found a few to share and the criteria that these satisfied were that they all make me smile.  I hope you enjoy these and continue to follow me through the upcoming year.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

The wonder of the holiday season is always best as seen through the eyes of a child.  I've had wonderful opportunities this year to photograph children and several in the past few weeks.  Seeing their innocence, their optimism and their sheer joy, I always leave feeling better than when I arrived.  Seems appropriate at this time of the year to quote Dickens,"For it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty Founder was a child Himself."

SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON

In between meeting with families who are making plans for holiday photo cards, I managed to get in some creative shooting time on the 5th Annual 5th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk.  Larry Fay, president of the South Shore Camera Club  led our group through Boston's Back Bay on a beautiful October day.  Always good to keep those creative juices flowing.

CARSON CLAN AT TURKEY HILL

Perfect fall foliage was the backdrop for a recent family photo session with the Carsons.  The bros were bonding while mom and dad just sat there looking great. Folks like this make my job look easy...

SAVE THE TA-TAS

It's breast cancer awareness month and it would be difficult find a more inspirational sight than the one I witnessed on the Boston Common this Columbus Day.  Photographing the Tufts 10K, I watched Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson shake the hands of thousands of elated race finishers.  Congrats to everyone involved in the effort to raise money and awareness to fight this disease that has affected so many.

FAMILY AFFAIR

Sending your youngest child off to college.  Watching your child get married.  Having your first grandchild.  It's hard to believe that my own family saw all of these milestones in the last year.  Witnessing these momentous changes first hand has underlined the importance of taking family portraits for me.  While in the midst of each phase, it seems impossible to imagine your family reaching the next, but I can assure you, it will happen overnight.  I enjoyed helping these families capture their current phase.

SWEET DREAMS

A new concept in bedding has hit the shelves, courtesy of two Hingham moms and entrepreneurs.  Kirsten Lambert and Joan Ripple are are the owners of Beantown Bedding, providing college students with an environmentally responsible alternative to traditional laundering.  It gets kids out of the laundry mat and into the library!  These photos will soon be hitting local newspapers and when they make it to the top, I'll be able to say, "I knew them when..."  Kudos to you, ladies.  To learn about their product, check out Beantown Bedding.

SITTIN ON THE DOCK OF THE BAY

My trip to the city by the bay was short but sweet and included a lobster bake in Napa (ironic, I know).
