MAIN STREET ANTIQUING

I shoot a lot of properties for local realtors.  It's usually not too exciting and not too creative but as they say, it pays the bills.  Today however, I took photos of a historic house on lower main street in Hingham.  This house was built in 1723 and the homeowners have maintained an amazing antique feel.  I was grateful that my hum drum plan for an afternoon home shoot turned into an inspirational tour.

START SPREADING THE NEWS

Finally getting caught up on my activities from the last month.  I had the wonderful opportunity to take an HDR workshop at New York's Radio City Music Hall with Roman Kurycwzak.  Since I had never been there before, it was doubly amazing.  We learned quite a bit about the history of the hall and had the chance to see some hidden spaces.  Technically, I learned a lot about working with different exposures and then merging them to achieve an interesting effect.  Well, you can be the judge regarding how interesting the outcome is.

SUNRISE, SUNSET

As George Michael said, "You gotta have faith."  Last month I had the privilege of documenting a rite of passage for a young Hingham girl.  In front of family and friends, she read from the Torah and became a Bat Mitzvah or daughter of the commandments.  And after fulfilling all the requirements, it was time to party!  Mazel Tov!

   

SHE LOVES ME, SHE LOVES ME NOT

In an attempt to get the creative juices flowing, I went to the Wellesley greenhouses last Sunday with a few fellow camera clubbers.  I brought my old camera and my not-so-old macro lens and...mission accomplished!  I recommend the greenhouses for photographers, lovers of flora and fauna or anyone who just wants to de stress.  It's open 7 days a week and it's FREE.

SKATEBOARDING IS NOT A CRIME

The unseasonably warm weather drew a crowd to Hingham's skate park.  The skate park will be a new addition to my Hidden Hingham calendar for 2013.  If you have any suggestions for the calendar, be sure to send them to me! If I use a photo from your suggestion, I'll give you a free calendar!

TOES IN THE WATER

I covered a lot of ground over Feb. break, driving from Atlanta, to Enterprise, AL, to Destin, FL, to The Villages, to Disney and ended up in Naples.  I was "on vacation" so my camera spent most of the time tucked away in its back but in between rounds of golf, I managed to snap a few shots.

RUNNING RAGGED

Finally made it up to New Hampshire for Hingham's final ski race at Ragged Mountain.  Though there wasn't much of the white stuff, the team schussed in style (try saying that three times fast).  Congrats to all.  To see the entire gallery of race photos, go to Ragged 2/11/12
