SENIOR MOMENT

OOH, BABY BABY

Heading into a busy summer portrait and wedding season but will always make time to photograph a beautiful baby.  Baby Will flashed his baby blues and the rest was history.  This guy smiled, kept his eyes open and then slept on command, giving me some great opportunities to capture him at 4 months.

IF THEY COULD SPEAK

Just days before the Boston Marathon bombing, I traveled to NYC with the South Shore Camera Club to see the 9-11 Memorial for the first time.  It was both beautiful and devastating.  The poem below by Roseanne Pellicane was chosen as the keynote for the permanent 9/11 exhibit at the NYC Fire Museum to honor the 343 firefighters who were lost at the World Trade Center.    

If They Could Speak

    Please don’t be afraid.  Yes, life is different now but remember when it was beautiful?  Well, it will be again, though not the same.

     The wounds will heal, your tears will dry and though scars remain, I know you are strong enough to live through the pain.

     Do not grieve and linger in the shadows of graves.
Go out into the sunshine and tell everyone that I was here.
Let our enemy know that when we were together we lived, and worked and loved. And though I am gone, you will carry on for me because you must.

     Tell my family how much I loved them and still do.  Remember the good we shared, the life we created, and
walk forward with noble dreams. God can’t fill a shattered heart or a clenched fist.
    Let fear die and let love flow again like a river.

     So as the smoke rises high above the ash, gather all your strength and rebuild something new, something better.
 It’s not impossible.  It’s essential.  It’s what I would do for you.

     Just one last thing, surely you must know, I never wanted to leave you. I was captured by fate, escorted by angels.
And though you might feel you are alone, you are not and neither am I.......

99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall

I had the bar all to myself, giving me a chance to get up close and personal at the New World Tavern in downtown Plymouth.  They have 32 types of draft beers and over 100 bottled specimens.  The owner had to create several pours for the shoot but you know what they say; if you wanna bake a cake, you have to break a few eggs.  The things I do for my art.

THE SPACE BETWEEN

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot Setting the Space, a staging company and interior design store in downtown Plymouth.  I was like a kid in a candy store; everywhere I looked there was something interesting and unusual to photograph!  It's days like this that I love my job!

SHOWTIME

Winter time is show time for many local art associations and galleries.  So far I have two accepted entries on display.  The image above, "Apple's Core" was taken at the Apple Store in Boston's Back Bay. It was accepted into the Plymouth Center for the Arts, Fine Art of Photography Juried Photography Exhibition. The exhibition will run from March 30 to May 5. For directions and more information, go to Plymouth Center for the Arts.  The image below, "Snow Row," was taken a couple of years ago  in Hull during the annual Snow Row race.  It is on display at the Hull Lifesaving Museum as part of its Sea and Sky Art Show.  For details, go to Hull Lifesaving Museum.  Both images are available for sale.  I am waiting for notification from additional shows and will update this blog as I receive details.

FREE BIRD

A quick trip to Florida in between snowstorms gave me a good opportunity to use a new lens (100-400) and experiment with some bird photography. The Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary in Naples provided me with plenty of subjects.  I hope to pursue this closer to home when warm weather returns.
